J'aime bien les photos...c'etait assez proche ou l'appareil photo est magnifique?

Speaking as an addressee of your letter, I sure hope that many years from now when these times are evaluated, Number 44 will be regarded as a great president more than the first non-white president of the USA. I don't mean to lessen the importance of his being the first non-white president, but I do mean to say I hope he brings my home country out of the mess many years of bad leadership -- as well as rampant apathy -- has gotten us into. If he does get us out of the mess in good shape without the US going through a long national convulsion, I believe he will be thought of first as a great president, and second as the first non-white leader of the US. I believe he's got the right mix of empathy, wits, and stamina...I believe he's the right person at the right time...but I say that realizing that I'm a bit of an optimist. :-)

I found the article of great interest and some concern. The interest for me is understanding the views of others. The concern is that so many seem to be afraid of economic cycles. It's in the nature of life to have birth, growth, development, maturation, reproduction, enjoyment, and ultimately death. So it is with all cycles. Yesterday's booming buggy whips are now replaced with booming search engines. Both have their place in history, both have certain individuals and companies that excel at profiting from them, and both have those that don't. The trick is to not be afraid but instead look ahead with steely eyes (and a smile in one's heart) and find where one's unique place in the cycle is...and manage accordingly.

Retty, I'll keep in mind your interest for stamps and the postal system, which are symbols of an early phase of awareness of the diversity of our world, but also of the unity of mankind. I too, as a child, would dream in front of stamps, which conjured up images of far-away places, of other cultures, of people with other habits. I was an active stamps collector before (still collecting but not in the term of "active"), and when I turned into the internet (because it is faster and cheaper) I still feel attached to the Post Office. That's why this picture took my interest. Perhaps a little story on their function? Thanks!

That's an interesting remark you make, Retty, that "in this internet era... there are still so many boxes...".
Regarding the use of the photo of the post boxes, it is presently in the hands of a newspaper group, which is considering using it, so for the time being I cannot dispose of it. But I'll offer you another photo of the same trip, if you wish.

Thank you SJX for your comment on some of the aesthetic aspects, which fascinate me far less than the actual performance of this timekeeper. In the meantime, I posted some remarks at WatchRap about the receding value of accuracy among watch connoisseurs and collectors today. Perhaps you would like to comment on that?

Congrats on the new watch! I am very impressed by the Hour Vision. It is very elaborately executed yet it remains elegant, there is no feeling of Omega "trying too hard" as is often the case with modern watches. The styling is reminiscent of art deco and the details, like the polished hour markers, are perfect.

Les montres Omega sont de très bonnes qualité et avaient d'ailleurs été mis en avant dans un James Bond, avec par exemple la montre laser Omega qui était une Seamaster. Aujourd'hui c'est une marque que tout le monde connait.

Un article intéressant en anglais sur cet horloger. C'est vrai qu'on ne penses pas toujours aux horlogers luxembourgeois qui savent faire de remarquables montres.
